Racine Lutheran Students Publish Lenten Devotional Booklet
Lent is the 40 weekdays from Ash Wednesday until Easter. It is a time of reflection, repentance, and renewal for Christians. To mark the season, Racine Lutheran High’s Pastor Luchterhand formed an interdisciplinary team from the theology and English departments to help students create and produce their own Lenten devotion booklet. Entitled “Repentance and Renewal – Daily Devotions,” with cover artwork depicting Lenten themes, the publication contains weekday devotions stretching from Ash Wednesday through Good Friday.
Racine Lutheran Gala Raises $53,000 for Students
Racine Lutheran High thanks all Red-Hot Valentine’s Gala supporters and donors for helping the school raise more than $53,000 for tuition assistance! Funds will enable even more Racine families to benefit from Christian education as the school continues to grow.
Kelli Ryddner is RLHS Student of the Month
Racine Lutheran has named Kelli Ryddner November Student of the Month. Students are nominated by teachers in light of the 2011-12 school year theme, “Be Strong and Courageous.” Teachers say, “Kelli is a great asset to our school and our community. She volunteers for the Pork Chop Dinner and Harvest Fair, plus other special events in Racine.
Racine Lutheran Sets Sights on Science
Racine Lutheran High has set sights on expanding its science program. The school recently added new equipment, due to the generosity of a school supporter. The science department received seven five-objective binocular microscopes - with five lenses for different levels of magnification and two eyepieces for easily viewing specimens. Students can magnify a sample from 40 to 1,000 times its natural size, for optimal study.
Miranda Richio is Student of the Month
Racine Lutheran High named Miranda Richio Student of the Month for September. Students are nominated by faculty in light of the school year theme, “Be Strong and Courageous.”
Racine Lutheran Tech Trek is November 2
Racine Lutheran High students ask community support for their Wednesday, November 2 “Tech Trek.” The walk will raise funds for wireless and upgraded technology at the school. To make a contribution, please contact any Racine Lutheran student or send your donation directly to the school at 251 Luedtke Avenue in Racine. Checks should be payable to Racine Lutheran High School and designated for the "Tech Trek.”
Exit the Body on Racine Lutheran’s Stage
Rehearsing a scene from Exit the Body (left to right) are: Aaron Gehne, Diana Meyer (back), Kaylin Boscha, David Kueny, Zack Godlewski, and MeriKate Bock (lying down). The Lutheran High School Drama Department will present Fred Carmichael's farce, Exit the Body, on October 28 and 29. Performances will be held at 7:00 P.M. in the school gym at 251 Luedtke Avenue.
RLHS Cheerleaders Receive Awards
The Racine Lutheran High cheerleading squad recently participated in UCA Cheer Camp at UW-Milwaukee. The squad received one red ribbon, ten blue ribbons, two 2nd place trophies, and one gold superior overall ribbon. Coaches are Lynn Miehle and ShaiAnn Howard. Principal Randy Baganz notes, “These are well-deserved rewards for hard work. Congratulations to our cheerleaders, who invest extra effort during the summer months to train for the coming sports season. Special thanks to our coaches for always encouraging students to excel and grow in Christian sportsmanship.”
Racine Lutheran’s Graduates Excel
Racine Lutheran High School held its Class of 2011 graduation exercises on May 20, with Jess Flick as valedictorian and Jonathan Lambert as salutatorian. “Our students traditionally have high academic achievement,” says Principal Randy Baganz. “An outstanding 81% of this year’s graduates were Honor Roll students, with 64% of the senior class on the High Honor Roll (3.5+ GPA).
