RLHS Students Complete CNC Boot Camp

RACINE — Racine Lutheran High School students Michael Gray and Hezekiah McCoy made the most of their senior year. The young men mastered their Racine Lutheran High School academic requirements while also completing Gateway Technical College’s third Youth Computer Numerical Control (CNC) Boot Camp certificate program.

Gray and McCoy earned the Certified Production Technician Safety Certificate and the Lean/Six Sigma Yellow Belt Certificate. Gray was recognized as the Most Valuable Classmate. The CNC Boot Camp number three Completion Ceremony was held at the SC Johnson iMET Center in Sturtevant on May 19.

Gray and McCoy experienced mentor worksite training at Kenosha’s MedTorque Inc. and Bradshaw Medical Inc., respectively.  Full-time CNC positions were offered to and accepted by Gray and McCoy.

“We are thrilled with this partnership. It allowed these young men to complete a career-readiness program that was appropriate for their goals and talents,” reports Dave Burgess, executive director of Racine Lutheran High School. “This is a win-win opportunity for all the stakeholders, especially our students.”

The CNC industry is facing a shortage of workers due to economic growth plus an accelerated retirement rate.  Companies require qualified candidates to fill these positions.

To respond to local employers’ needs, Gateway Technical College created adult and high school CNC boot camp opportunities. The community partnership includes Gateway Technical College, Racine County Workforce Development Center, SC Johnson and United Way of Racine County plus Racine Lutheran High School and other area high schools.

Racine Lutheran High School prepares its students for an array of college experiences and career paths. Visit www.RacineLutheran.org or contact the admissions office at 262-637-6538 for more information.

Blessings on Pastor Luchterhand and Mr. Walther!

As many of you are aware, Pastor Karl Luchterhand and Mr. Ben Walther will be leaving RLHS.  Pastor will enjoy the rest and relaxation found in retirement.  Mr. Walther has been called to a high school in Nevada.  We are grateful for their years of service to RLHS, and we invite you to join us as we pray for them and their new journeys.  Once a Crusader, always a Crusader!  God’s blessings!
