RLHS Musicians selected for Metro Classic Conference Honors Band

Congratulations to our “fab five” musicians who were nominated and selected to perform with the Metro Classic Conference Honors Band on Sunday, October 23, at Shoreland High School.  The students rehearsed all day and performed in the evening, under the direction of composer and musician Michael Sweeney.  Pictured L-R Kierra Mohalley, Anna Walker, Michael Young, Cole Schmidt and Noah Kidd.  Great job!

FALL DRAMA – YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO REMAIN DEAD – OCT. 28 & 29

The Racine Lutheran High School Theater Department will present Pat Cook’s You Have the Right to Remain Dead, an audience-participation murder mystery sprinkled with comedy. The performance dates are Friday, Oct. 28, and Saturday, Oct. 29, at 7 p.m.

Here’s what you can expect.  You’ve just settled down in a theater to solve an audience-participation murder mystery. The narrator (Jacob Lightner) comes out and gives you a few “ins and outs” on what to look for in the play. The show starts, and you meet Slim Daddy (Petr Jaros), a rich but vindictive southern gentleman with an equally conniving and scheming family. So you know who’s going to die, right?  But who will the murderer be? Will it be Sweet Mama (Maja Jovovic), Daddy’s pandering wife; Hyacinth (McKenzie Moore), the daughter who’s always cleaning the family’s firearms; Earl (Ben Young) the worm, or his overly amorous wife, Savannah (McKenzie Daanan); or Clete (Ben Jung), the sullen handyman who, for some reason, is in the will? Then, a body is discovered on stage during the performance. The director (Emma Montgomery) comes on stage and the police (Hannah Mains) arrive. Now you have to figure out who committed the murder. Oh, and the lights keep giving Trudy (Tianna Chambliss) problems by fading in and out.

Not only are you questioning the cast, but they also are questioning you!  Yes, you are a suspect as well!  This frantic mystery-comedy will have audiences guessing until the last clue is dropped and the last ham overacts.

Tickets are available at the door:  $5 for adults, $4 for senior citizen (55+) and high school students, and middle school and grade school students are admitted free.  Advance-purchase tickets can be reserved by calling the school at 637-6538.

RLHS FALL CONCERT – DATE CHANGE!

Racine Lutheran High School has changed the date for its Fall Concert.  Please join us on Saturday, October 22, at 7 p.m.

The grade school Beginner and Symphonic bands will join the RLHS Concert Choir, Concert Band, Jazz Ensemble and Handbells Ensemble.  Admission is free, with a goodwill offering at the conclusion of the service.

The RLHS football team advanced to the playoffs.  Because our musicians and athletes are involved in both activities, we need to provide flexibility in our scheduling at times like this.  Our football team will play on Friday, October 21, at 7 p.m. in Iola, Wis.  Thank you for your cooperation, and we apologize for any inconvenience.
