Senior Leadership Retreat 2017

Racine Lutheran High School’s senior class gathered at Edwards YMCA Camp and Retreat Center in East Troy for its 10th annual Senior Leadership Retreat on Aug. 27 and 28.

The activities helped students identify, develop and practice their unique leadership skills.

The two-day experience commenced with a group breakfast and a Jubilate service at Trinity Lutheran Church. Racine Lutheran High School students led songs and prayers during the service, which focused on the parable of the Good Samaritan and promoted the retreat’s focus on kindness.

Students completed StrengthsFinder assessments, which helped each participant uncover his or her unique talents. Now that students have identified their strengths, they can continue to develop their leadership skills to facilitate personal development and growth.

The retreat’s activities included creative, mental and physical challenges, plus small group discussions, worship time, a campfire, a complex high-ropes course, zip-lining, canoeing and fishing. Devotions were inspired by the school year theme from 1 Corinthians 13:13 which reads: “And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.”
