RLHS Student of the Month for October

Racine Lutheran High School announces senior Madalyn Schmierer has been selected as the Student of the Month for October. Students are nominated by faculty in light of the 2017-18 school year theme: “The Greatest of These is Love.”

The nominating teacher shared:

Madalyn exhibits kindness to those around her and has demonstrated herself to be a leader in the classroom through modeling Christian behavior. Her diligence to her studies, music, athletics, and family sets her apart from her peers. It is a joy to work with her! While soft-spoken, she is intuitive and knows how to include others in activities through positive encouragement. Madalyn cares for those around her.

Science Lab Ribbon-cutting Ceremony

Racine Lutheran High School recently dedicated its renovated science lab during a donor-appreciation reception.

Significant grants were received from SC Johnson, the Violet and Harold Jaeke Foundation, Inc., the John Bleeke Memorial, LCMS Foundation, the Lang Family Foundation, and the Siebert Lutheran Foundation plus contributions from other generous donors.

Don Punswick, vice president of the Violet and Harold Jaeke Foundation’s board of directors feels the renovation of the science lab will enhance the level of education for the students at RLHS. He reports, “The Jaekes firmly believe that with a good, sound education, the future is unlimited. Having the right tools and dedicated teachers makes this possible.”

The renovation includes more than $150,000 in improvements. The lab provides students with expansive, flexible space for creating innovative projects and enhanced work areas to complement the scientific, engineering and technological college- and career-readiness initiatives, plus improved safety features such as air exchange and fume hoods.

Joining in the ribbon-cutting ceremony are: L-R Krista Long, RLHS development and alumni relations; Rick Ryddner, RLHS head custodian; Rachel Duchac, representing the John Bleeke Memorial; Don Punswick, vice president, the Violet and Harold Jaeke Foundation, Inc.; Jim Ladwig, director, global community affairs SC Johnson; Dave Burgess, RLHS executive director-principal; and Nate Bickel, RLHS head of buildings and grounds.

The #GivingTuesday Tradition

Observed on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving and

the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday,

#GivingTuesday is a global giving day that kicks off the charitable season,

when many focus on the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ and end-of-year contributions.

#GivingTuesday is now in its sixth year.

Join us on Tuesday, November 28, when charities, families, businesses, community centers, and

students around the world will come together for one common purpose:

to celebrate and encourage giving after three days of shopping.

Thank you!
