RLHS Student Council gift wrappers (2)

With joyful anticipation this past December, the students and staff at Racine Lutheran High School prepared to celebrate the birth of our Savior. God sent his only Son to save us. That’s a tremendous gift. The presents we exchanged provided us with temporary satisfaction. True gifts, such as the permanent graces of faith, hope and love, don’t run out of batteries or go out of style. They are blessings to all of us. We encouraged our students to reflect on the wonder of this glorious time of year, the greatness of our God, and the gifts we have received through the birth of Jesus.

Homeroom for the holidays

During the season of giving, our students were as busy as elves. They partnered with Julian Thomas Elementary School to provide a merry Christmas to many families. Toys, clothing, blankets and other goodies were donated, wrapped and delivered to children at Julian Thomas, just in time for the holiday celebrations. During opportunities like this, we recall Acts 20:35, which reads: “In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.”

Hall of Fame 2018

RLHS will welcome three inductees into its Hall of Fame: Gene Schneider, faculty and coach (1953-68), Cheryl Lynn Babel Wilkinson 1981, and Randy Lowe 1965, faculty and coach (1975-79). Schneider is being recognized for his faithful service to RLHS and for his life’s accomplishments. Wilkinson’s achievements as an athlete and her commitment to RLHS’s mission are noteworthy. After Lowe’s graduation from RLHS and tenure as a teacher, he began an exceptional career in Lutheran school administration. The recognition will take place before the basketball game tonight, Saturday, Jan. 13, at the school. A pre-game reception begins at 6:15 p.m., and the induction ceremony is at 7 p.m.
